One of the major complaints heard from several of our publishing clients was the lack of affordable electronic art rendering. Many buyers felt that the cost of art generated by established studios was excessive. Matrix attempted to alleviate some of these production needs by outsourcing art to the more cost-effective freelance market that existed in the York area. After more than a year of this temporary solution, we recognized the existence of a growing market for low cost, high quality electronic art.

The company decided to join forces with Jade Myers, one of the premier electronic book art specialists in the York area. His twenty years of electronic art experience with York Graphic Services and Academy Artworks made him well suited to manage the new Matrix Art Services, which began operations on July 31, 1999. Myers brought a full complement of experienced freelance artists to the new company, which modeled its operations with the same structure as Matrix Publishing Services. Thanks to nearly 40 years of combined experience, the staff of Matrix Art Services is able to render electronic art quickly and correctly, the first time. This factor, coupled with a similar low overhead, has allowed the profitable production of electronic art at prices below the industry standard.

The Matrix Art concept has been well received by our clients. The company was able to double its business in the second calendar year of operation; a tribute to the growing need for cost-effective art rendering. Matrix Art Services is also skilled in evaluating supplied art programs for use in book production, and making revisions to existing art files. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are the preferred platforms utilized by the company, but other programs such as Strata Pro and Mathematica are utilized for many applications.

Matrix Art Services is a stand-alone company, and accepts art projects independent of composition. We produce approximately 15,000-20,000 renderings per year, and invite you to view a few sample illustrations of this work. For your convenience, these examples have been grouped into categories of complexity, from the most basic (and therefore least expensive), to mid-level illustrations requiring a higher level of skill, to a sampling of some of the more complex projects we have encountered.
